First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva has met with President of the Senate of the Italian Republic Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati.
The meeting was held at Azerbaijan`s national pavilion at “Milan Expo-2015” World Exhibition, which was reconstructed in the territory of the Seaside National Park.
First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva said that she is happy to see President of the Italian Senate Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati in Baku. Mehriban Aliyeva noted that it is the first visit of Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati to Azerbaijan as President of the Italian Senate, and expressed confidence that this trip will contribute to the strengthening of relations between the two countries. Pointing out the strategic partnership nature of Azerbaijan-Italy ties, the First Vice-President said the bilateral relations cover many areas.
“I`m sure that the meetings you will hold as part of your trip to Baku will create opportunity for using the potential between our countries more effectively in the future,” said Mehriban Aliyeva. She expressed hope that Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati`s visit to Baku will be successful.
Expressing gratitude for the hospitality, the president of the Italian Senate said that this trip will contribute to the strengthening of the bilateral ties. Noting that it is her first visit to Azerbaijan as President of the Italian Senate, Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati hailed the relations established in a variety of fields. She underlined that her visit to Azerbaijan will contribute to the development of the bilateral relations, especially in political, social and cultural areas. “We are proud of your interest in and love for Italy.” The president of the Italian Senate praised the activities of Mehriban Aliyeva both as First Vice-President and head of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
The meeting continued at a tea table. First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva and President of the Senate Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati then viewed Azerbaijan`s national pavilion, which was showcased at “Milan Expo-2015” world exhibition.
