Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of Regional Boxing Training Center in Lankaran

Within the framework of his visit to Lankaran region, President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of Regional Boxing Training Center in Liman city after its complete overhaul.

It was mentioned that the center, with a total area of 3 hectares, used to be a Health Complex since 1986, where six sport types – boxing, weight lifting, karate, judo, wrestling, and sambo-wrestling were being taught. In the meanwhile, a generation of sportsmen, who achieved high results in international competitions, trained in this facility. However, in recent years, the sports complex fell into total desuetude and was only restored in 2008. All the conditions were set for physical, tactical, and technical preparation of sportsmen and the necessary equipments were installed at the facility. The center that can accommodate 60 sportsmen simultaneously features two boxing rings, room for coaches, changing rooms, bathrooms, and fitting rooms. It was also mentioned that, aside from children, teenagers, and adults, the national boxing team would also carry out its training-practice sessions at the facility. At the same time, the sportsmen of all the surrounding southern regions can also benefit from the services of this facility. In April of the current year, a delegation of the International Boxing Association visited the facility and praised the conditions created in the center.

A special nook is created in the sports complex to feature the attention given by national leader Heydar Aliyev to sports.

There are also basketball and mini soccer pitches, and a racetrack in the area of the center. Greenery works have been conducted and decorative plants and trees planted in the surrounding areas of 100 m2.
