Ilham Aliyev received delegation led by Gambian foreign minister

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by Foreign Minister of the Republic of Gambia Ousainou Darboe and including Minister of Works, Transport and Infrastructure Bai Lamin Jobe.

The head of state hailed friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Gambia, underlining the successful cooperation between the two countries and their constant mutual support within international organizations, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations.

President Ilham Aliyev thanked the government of Gambia for supporting Azerbaijan`s fair stance on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the international platform.

Gambian Foreign Minister Ousainou Darboe extended President Adama Barrow's greetings to President Ilham Aliyev. He said President Adama Barrow hailed Azerbaijan`s great strides under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev and its significant contributions to cooperation, economic development, and regional peace and security.

Underlining Azerbaijan’s and Gambia’s active involvement in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), FM Ousainou Darboe pointed out the two countries’ mutual support within the OIC and the UN.

The minister noted that Gambia supports Azerbaijan’s just position on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying the Gambian President resolutely condemns the occupation of the Azerbaijani lands by Armenia.

President Ilham Aliyev thanked for President Adama Barrow’s greetings and asked the FM to extend his greetings to the Gambian President.

The importance of defining prospects for bilateral relations in various fields, including economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Gambia was noted at the meeting.
