Ilham Aliyev reviewed the progress of major overhaul and reconstruction at the Juma Mosque

President Ilham Aliyev has reviewed the progress of major overhaul and reconstruction at the Juma Mosque in the city of Sumgayit.

The head of state was informed that the Juma Mosque was built at the expense of Sumgayit residents in 1990. The mosque, which can accommodate 700 people for prayer service at a time, had not been renovated in recent years and therefore lost its previous appearance. Cracks have appeared in its walls. The area adjoining the mosque also needs restoring. On the instruction of President Ilham Aliyev, major overhaul and construction of a new minaret have started at the mosque. This work will turn the mosque into a religious complex.

President Ilham Aliyev reviewed the photo stand reflecting the appearance of the mosque after renovation. He was informed that the mosque would have a totally different appearance after the reconstruction and there would be wonderful conditions for conducting religious rituals here.

The head of state was presented with the Holy Koran.

President Ilham Aliyev reviewed the area adjoining the mosque. He pointed to the need for paying attention to planting work on the area and gave relevant instructions and recommendations.
