Ilham Aliyev participated at the opening of the Park of Ziver bey Ahmedbeyov

The Park of Ziver bey Ahmedbeyov was inaugurated in front of Nizami subway station. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev took part at the ceremony.

Hajibala Abutalybov, head of Baku City Executive Power Authority informed the head of state about the work done at the site. Ziver bey Ahmedbeyov was the first Azerbaijani chief architect of Baku in 1918-1920 and played an important role in development of the city. In his projects, Ziver bey Ahmedbeyov combined very masterly architectural traditions of the Western Europe and the East. According to the decree of the President of Azerbaijan, a park carrying Ziver bey Ahmedbeyov's name was constructed and a monument in his honor was erected.

The head of state checked out closely the conditions created in the park. It was noted that the area of the park had been in a neglected condition for a long time. Canteens and small shops providing services in anti-sanitary conditions were tided away and a park, named after the first Azerbaijani architect of Baku – Ziver bey Ahmedbeyov, was built. Many various species of trees and flower bushes were planted in the territory of the park. Vegetation was planted. A lighting system in line with modern requirements was also installed in the park.

The set of fountains in modern style steered by automated equipment located behind the monument of Ziver bey Ahmedbeyov is installed at the park entrance. All conditions are created here for leisure of the capital residents. New asphalt was laid on the streets located on right and left hands and the Street of Jafar Jabbarly in front of the park. New sidewalks were made of granite stones.

The building in front of the park was constructed on the basis of Ziver bey Ahmedbeyov’s project. It was reported that façades of the buildings surrounding the park will be restored while keeping its historical architectural style.

Studying the work done, President Ilham Aliyev issued relevant recommendations.
