Ilham Aliyev received Russian Commissioner for Human Rights

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova.

On behalf of all ombudsmen of the Russian Federation, Tatyana Moskalkova congratulated the head of state on the occasion of his birthday and wished him robust health and successes in his activity.

Tatyana Moskalkova recalled her meeting with President Ilham Aliyev when she worked at the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

She hailed the establishment of close cooperation with her Azerbaijan counterpart since she started her activity as Commissioner for Human Rights of the Russian Federation.

Tatyana Moskalkova said the agreement signed today by the human rights offices of Azerbaijan and Russia laid a new legal framework for cooperation in terms of quality.

The Russian Commissioner for Human Rights stressed the importance of “Multiculturalism and human rights: equality, cooperation and development” conference marking the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the institution of Ombudsman in Azerbaijan.

President Ilham Aliyev thanked Tatyana Moskalkova for kind words and congratulations. The head of state congratulated Tatyana Moskalkova on her appointment to the new position.

The head of state said the conference held in Baku is dedicated to an important topic, adding that 2016 was declared the year of multiculturalism in Azerbaijan. President Ilham Aliyev said a lot of works has been done in the country in this field.

The head of state said multiculturalism and human rights were very important issues, adding that problems related to migrants in the world, especially in Europe became more acute. The President said certain politicians and media openly attack migrants, and noted that this should be considered as the attack against the ideas of multiculturalism.

President Ilham Aliyev underlined the significance of discussing the implementation of unique standards in addressing these problems and preserving the ideas of multiculturalism.

They also exchanged views over the prospects of cooperation.
