The 10th of May marks the 88th anniversary of the architect and founder of the contemporary, independent state of Azerbaijan, world-renowned politician, genius son of the nation, national leader Heydar Aliyev. The grateful people of Azerbaijan, those who have known Heydar Aliyev from all over the world and his fans have been celebrating the birthday of this great person for the last eight years without him.
As on the eve of the national leader’s birthday, from early morning of the May 10, representatives of the community, people who came to Baku from different regions and cities of the country, guests of the Azerbaijani capital have been visiting the Alley of Honors in endless streams, laying wreaths and fresh flowers in front of the tomb of great leader Heydar Aliyev, commemorating him with deep respect, and making prayers.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva, members of the family, relatives of the great leader have arrived to the Alley of Honors to pay tribute to the savior of our nation on his birthday.
President Ilham Aliyev laid a wreath at the tomb of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
The national anthem of Azerbaijan Republic was performed.
Spouse of President Ilham Aliyev, Mehriban Aliyeva, and the members of the family also laid flowers at the tomb of the national leader.
Then, the President and his family members laid flowers at the graves of outstanding ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva, prominent public figure Aziz Aliyev and famous doctor, scientist Tamerlan Aliyev.
Among those in attendance at the commemoration ceremony were Prime Minister Artur Rasizade, chairman of the Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov and Chief of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, as well as ministers, heads of state committees and companies, and parliament members.
