President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has visited the grave of late President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze and met with his family members.
The head of state arrived at the house of former President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze.
President Ilham Aliyev first put flowers at the graves of Eduard Shevardnadze and his wife.
The head of state met with family members of the late Georgian President.
Sharing his memories of Eduard Shevardnadze, President Ilham Aliyev said he is held in great respect in Azerbaijan. The head of state said national leader Heydar Aliyev and Eduard Shevardnadze had close friendly ties, adding that both leaders played a crucial role in developing Azerbaijani-Georgian relations.
Family members of Eduard Shevardnadze thanked President Ilham Aliyev.
They highly appreciated the head of state`s paying tribute to Eduard Shevardnadze. They said Eduard Shevardnadze also had greatest respect for national leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan and always tried to contribute to the development of relations between the two countries.
President Ilham Aliyev viewed the photos of Eduard Shevardnadze and keepsakes and awards presented to him.
