Ilham Aliyev presented the "Baku-2015" gold medal to the Greco-Roman wrestler Rasul Chunayev

Greco-Roman wrestler Rasul Chunayev has added another gold to Azerbaijan`s medal count at the First European Game after putting up a brilliant performance in the men`s 71kg weight category.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his wife, chairperson of the Baku 2015 First European Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva watched Chunayev`s triumph.

In his opener, Chunayev defeated Moldova`s Daniel Cataraga, before emerging victorious over Dominik Eltinger of Croatia in the second round. In the semifinal, Chunayev destroyed Bulgarian Svilen Kostadinov, building a six-point lead just within 40 seconds of the bout. The Azerbaijani wrestler earned his country the gold medal of the inaugural European Games thanks to a 4-2 win over Hungarian Balink Korpasi in the final bout.

Another Greco-Roman wrestler Rafig Huseynov grabbed silver medal in the 80kg class after losing to Russian Evgeny Saleev.

In the medal ceremony, President Ilham Aliyev presented the medals to the winners.
