President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan`s first lady, chairperson of the First European Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva and family members have reviewed the progress of construction at the Baku Sport City, Aquatic Palace and National Flag Square.
Water polo, beach volleyball, beach soccer and basketball facilities are being constructed in the Baku Sport City. The Baku Sport City will also have meeting and conference halls, as well as a parking lot.
With the aim of developing water sports in Azerbaijan and organizing local and international competitions, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the construction of a state-of-the-art Aquatic Palace in Baku on 30 August 2012. An area of six hectares was allocated for the construction of the Aquatic Palace. The palace covering an area of 66,000 square meters is fully compliant with the requirements of the International Swimming Federation. It will have three swimming pools. The pool, 50 meters long and 25 meters wide, is designed for competitions. The second pool is designed for training.
Then President Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva visited the National Flag Square.
President Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva reviewed the construction work at cultural and art facilities, as well as exhibition halls around the square, and familiarized themselves with the reconstruction and repair work in public places and alleys.
The head of state gave relevant instructions.
