Ilham Aliyev received the presidents of the International Olympic Committee and the European Olympic Committees

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach and President of the European Olympic Committees Patrick Hickey.

President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach said ongoing big development processes in Azerbaijan made deep impression on him, and congratulated the head of state on achievements.

Emphasizing the importance of holding the 43rd General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees in Baku, the head of state said he was pleased that Azerbaijan hosts such an event. President Ilham Aliyev noted that such events create a good opportunity for guests to get acquainted with the country. Stressing that Azerbaijan has good experience in organizing international events, the head of state expressed confidence that the first European Games would be held successfully.

The parties noted the importance of state attention to the development of sports in Azerbaijan, highlighted the country`s contribution to international cooperation in this area, and expressed their satisfaction with the high-level preparations for the first European Games to be held in Baku.

Then Thomas Bach presented President Ilham Aliyev with a commemorative medal made by the International Olympic Committee for the heads of state. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is one of the first heads of state to receive this commemorative medal.
