President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan have watched Plotforma S-70 international combat sambo championship in Sochi.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and other officials were also among the guests of honor.
Plotforma S-70 international combat sambo championship is held in Sochi for the fifth time.
This year, Russia’s national martial arts team faced a combined international team that included fighters from the USA, France, Kazakhstan, Brazil, Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus.
Speaking at a ceremony to award the Russian team, which won the tournament, President Vladimir Putin said sambo was developing in Azerbaijan. The Russian President thanked President Ilham Aliyev for ensuring the inclusion of sambo in the program of the first European Games to take place in Baku.
