President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev has reviewed in a military unit the new equipment and weapons delivered to military units of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
The creation of a strong Azerbaijani army, the formation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan is linked to the name of the great leader, Heydar Aliyev. Thanks to the crucial work performed by this eminent statesman, the foundations of a regular and strong Azerbaijani army were laid in 1993-2003 and important conditions were created for soldiers and officers to master the secrets of military science. And in 2003-2013 the Azerbaijani army experienced a period of the highest development under the leadership of President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev. This development is also manifest in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The Armed Forces in Nakhchivan, which is besieged and face to face with the enemy, meet the latest military standards both in terms of fighting capability and material and technical resources.

The President of Azerbaijan was briefed on the new weapons and military hardware. It was noted that all the necessary measures have been consistently adopted for forming a professional army in Nakhchivan taking account of global experience. This is a result of the attention and care by the head of state, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, who has made building up Azerbaijan’s military strength a prime task. From the very outset as head of state, President Ilham Aliyev set the task that Azerbaijan’s military budget should exceed the overall state budget of Armenia. This strategic aim was reached before long. In last year’s state budget, military spend reached $3.73 billion. This year, the revenue of Armenia’s state budget was just $2.5 billion. The strengthening of the material and technical resources of the Azerbaijani army, the growing professionalism and morale of our servicemen show once again that the Azerbaijani army is ready at any moment to liberate our lands from the enemy by the order of the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. Azerbaijan, which is the regional lead state in all areas, holds the leading positions in the military sphere, too. This means that the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan are capable of fulfilling any task facing them.
