President Ilham Aliyev has met Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano in The Hague.

It was noted at the meeting that cooperation between Azerbaijan and the IAEA is fruitful and it was stressed that our country is a reliable partner in the field of nuclear security.

Yukiya Amano said that there is good potential for further developing cooperation and broadening ties in the field of nuclear waste management. He described Azerbaijan’s active participation in nuclear security events and summits as satisfactory.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev touched upon the importance of nuclear security for our country, the region and the world.

The head of state drew attention to the fact that the operation in a seismic zone in Armenia of a nuclear power plant which is already obsolete and not up to today’s standards poses a serious threat to the whole region.
