Dear Gasim Hashimov,
I have been deeply saddened by the untimely death of your son, prominent Azerbaijani chess player, three-time champion of Azerbaijan, grandmaster Vugar Hashimov.
Vugar Hashimov owns an invaluable contribution to Azerbaijani sports and to the development of Azerbaijani chess school. With his bright victories he always glorified our country.
The Azerbaijani people and the sporting community were proud of our talented sportsman who was one of the strongest players in the world, and always looked forward to many more victories and new achievements from him.
Cruel death has taken Vugar Hashimov from us right in the heyday of his talent. However, the fond memories of him will always live in our hearts, in the hearts of the Azerbaijani people and all fans of chess.
Sharing in your grief at these difficult moments, I express to you, Aida Khanim and all your family my deepest condolences.
May Allah rest his soul in peace!
