Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the Zabrat-Kurdakhani-Pirshagi road after reconstruction

President Ilham Aliyev has inspected construction work on the Bilgah-Novkhani-Sumgayit road and attended the opening of the Zabrat-Pirshagi road.

In recent years, numerous overpasses, bridges, tunnels, underground and overground pedestrian crossings and roads have been built in line with international standards in the capital and regions. All this work is being carried out in accordance with the state programme to update and develop the road network in Azerbaijan in 2006-2015. As a result of targeted measures carried out within this framework, some traffic facilities of the road-transport complex are put in operation with high quality. In accordance with the Decree of the President Ilham Aliyev, work on projects to regulate traffic and improve the road infrastructure in the city of Baku is being successfully carried out. The construction of new road junctions, bridges, underground and overground passages aims to eliminate the problem of traffic jams and provide comfort to the population of Baku. The improvement of the road-transport system, being a socially-oriented measure, is an indicator of the economic power of our country. The ambitious infrastructure projects currently being implemented in our republic also demonstrate the following reality - successes achieved over the years fully reveal the potential of Azerbaijan and confirm that the steps calculated for the future of our country are being taken in the right direction. The series of targeted and important measures to update the road infrastructure of the capital to a more modern level in accordance with the instructions of the head of state have been replenished with new ones.

First President Ilham Aliyev inspected construction work on the Bilgah-Novkhani-Sumgayit road.

Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov informed the head of state about intersections and pedestrian crossings constructed on the Bilgah-Novkhani-Sumgayit road. It was noted that a 16.5-kilometre section of the six-lane road with a total length of 42 kilometres is now ready. Six road junctions of the same level will be built along the highway. In addition, in accordance with the project, it is planned to build 12 bridges, 4 underground and 1 railway crossings on the road. Two junctions in Nardaran and Bilgah are already ready for operation. And finishing work is under way at the Kurdakhani junction.

The main objective of the project included in the state programme on the socioeconomic development of Baku and its surrounding settlements in 2011-2013 is to provide transport links between settlements in the northwestern part of the Absheron Peninsula along the Baku-Guba road in the northern direction through the Mardakan-Bilgah-Novkhani-Sumgayit road without entering the city of Baku. At the same time, this highway, which leads to the Baku-Shamakhi road, will help establish effective and convenient transport links with the western part of the country. The new road, helping to facilitate transport links between Baku settlements and the country’s highways of international importance, will also have an impact on reducing traffic pressure on the central part of the capital. President Ilham Aliyev issued relevant instructions and recommendations to complete the project at a high level.

Then, President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the reconstructed Zabrat-Pirshagi road.

The head of state was informed about the technical specifications of the Zabrat Circle-Kurdakhani-Pirshagi road. It was noted that the length of the road of the first category is 8 kilometres.

The old narrow road caused traffic jams and problems in securing intensive traffic. After the reconstruction, the width of the roadway was increased to 15 metres, which contributes to comfortable and smooth traffic. The road has four lanes. This road was also reconstructed within the state program on the socioeconomic development of villages and settlements of Baku.

Together with the Sabunchu Circle-Zabrat-Mashtaga-Buzovna road put into operation earlier, the Zabrat Circle-Kurdakhani-Pirshagi road will connect Kurdakhani, Pirshagi, Zabrat, Mashtaga, Buzovna, Zagulba, Bilgah, Lahij cottages, Novkhani, Nardaran and other settlements serviced by these roads. At the same time, connecting with the Bilgah-Pirshagi-Bentonite Circle road, where construction is under way, the road will solve the traffic problems of the abovementioned villages and settlements.

In accordance with the instruction of the head of our state, an organic combination of international standards and national architectural traditions is taken as a basis during the reconstruction of the road transport system in our country, including in the city of Baku. All these buildings attract attention for their high quality and modern look.

President Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the road.
