On the Day of State Flag, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Madam Mehriban Aliyeva participated at the opening of the State Flag Museum.
The Museum is constructed on the basis of the relevant decree of the President of Azerbaijan and it is created at the State Flag Square which was solemnly inaugurated this September 1. The eight point star shaped museum created on the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev is located under the pedestal of flag mast at the State Flag Square.
The head of state Ilham Aliyev cut the ribbon signaling the opening and toured the museum.
Built on the basis of projects of Azerbaijani architects and designers and using contemporary design technologies, this museum exhibits restored flags of states, khanates, including the Irevan khanate which existed in the territory of Azerbaijan, three elements of flags related to XVII-XVIII centuries, coats-of-arms, the constitutions of the Republic of Azerbaijan adopted in different years, post stamps, samples of coins, orders and medals, the creation, formation and development of independent Azerbaijani state under the leadership of national leader Heydar Aliyev, numerous photos and documents reflecting activities of President Ilham Aliyev to progress the country, state flags honored by great leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev following presidential elections, the flag of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, battle flags of various types of the Armed Forces and their ceremonial uniforms.
Being one of such rare museums in the world, the State Flag Museum demonstrates also the certificate issued by Guinness World Record Book for the tallest flag mast of Azerbaijani state flag in the world as well as various books and photos, the flag flied on the building of the Embassy of Azerbaijani Democratic Republic in Turkey in 1918-1920. Many of artifacts are shown here for the first time. There is also a multimedia point installed at the museum.
Having toured the museum, President Ilham Aliyev signed the Golden Book.
Then, the head of state got familiarized with the reconstruction and refurbishment work carried out around the State Flag Square.
It was reported that currently, the reconstruction and refurbishment work continues swiftly around the State Flag Square. Small parks, resort zones and greening lines are being created in this territory.
This work is being carried out on the basis of instructions given by the head of state on enlarging the National Seaside Park towards the State Flag Square at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers chaired by President Ilham Aliyev and dedicated to the outcomes of social and economic development in last nine months of 2010. Some movement operations will take place in the territory to complete the work. Another project will be also elaborated in the future to reconstruct the area behind the State Flag Square.
President Ilham Aliyev gave instructions and recommendations on carrying out the work at high level and with quality.
