Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of a new building of the Local History Museum and an art gallery in Saatli

President Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of a new building of the Local History Museum and an art gallery in Saatli.

It was noted that it is important to preserve and pass on to future generations the monuments of Azerbaijani material culture. In this sense, the activities of local history museums is of particular significance.

The Saatli District local history museum also serves to preserve the ancient material culture.

The head of state cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the building.

It was indicated that the building constructed in the Heydar Aliyev Park has original architecture.

Its total floor area is 917 square meters. In the courtyard of the museum there are sections exhibiting household and labor objects of the people who inhabited Saatli in antiquity. The two-storey building also operates an art gallery.

It was mentioned that the new building is fitted with all the necessary communications and equipment. In the lobby there are photo stands reflecting the visits of great leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to Saatli.

Located on the first floor, the Local History Museum comprises sections on archeology, ethnography, culture, ideology and art. The archeology section demonstrates various household items relating to the 3rd millennium BC that have been found in Saatli. It also features everyday objects used from the Kura-Araz culture to the Middle Ages. Of great interest is the section on coins, which exhibits the money used in different historical formations.

While touring the ethnography section, President Ilham Aliyev was informed that it demonstrates the exhibits that reflect the lifestyle of the people of Saatli in the 19-20th centuries. Models of blacksmith and pottery workshops and houses provide an idea of the way of life in ancient times. The culture section contains various works of art, in particular carpets and attire. The ideology section shows films on the history, outstanding personalities and statehood of Azerbaijan. Special facilities have been established for the restoration and storage of exhibits.

When reviewing the art gallery on the second floor of the building, the head of state was informed that works of art created in various genres are displayed on a wide area. The gallery mainly represents the works of local artists. It also displays sculptures. The gallery has a separate conference room and technical premises.

After reviewing the building, President Ilham Aliyev gave relevant instructions and recommendations.
