31 July 2012, 12:50
As part of a visit to the southern region of Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev has reviewed the Flag Square in Lankaran.
It was noted that respect and reverence for state attributes is at the highest level in Azerbaijan. The Flag Squares established both in Baku and in many districts of the country are an indication of love and respect for state symbols. From this point of view, the Flag Square created in Lankaran is quite important.
The President was informed that the construction of the Flag Square in Lankaran began in May this year. The square is located in Heydar Aliyev Avenue at the entrance to the city. The height of the flagpole is 70 meters, the flag is 20 meters long and 10 meters wide. The 2-meter natural marble pedestal has the words of the national anthem and the national emblem of Azerbaijan. There are also sections with information about the state flag, the national emblem and the emblem of the city of Lankaran approved on 2 May 1843.
It was mentioned that the Flag Square had been extensively landscaped and a green area established in it. The square, lined with marble slabs and tiles, has a modern lighting system.
Then the President of Azerbaijan reviewed the stands describing projects on the development of Lankaran.
The President praised the work done in the Flag Square and gave relevant instructions and recommendations.
