Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of a military staff building of a military unit in Kangarli District

While in Kangarli District, President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of a military staff building, reviewed the barracks, canteen and living quarters of a military unit of the Defense Ministry.

The Chief of the Nakhchivan garrison, Lt-Gen Karam Mustafayev, reported to President and Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.

While reviewing the military unit, the Commander-in-Chief was informed that the new three-storey military staff building is fitted with all the necessary equipment. The premises of the military unit have been landscaped. All necessary measures have been taken to strengthen the military and patriotic spirit of the personnel.

The head of state cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the staff building and examined it.

The banner of the military unit is stored in the lobby of the first floor of the staff building. This floor also houses offices and a recreation area for officers of the military unit. On the second floor there is a section describing the combat record of the military unit. There is also a stand bearing the statement of great leader Heydar Aliyev about the strategic importance of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic. The stand also features photographs of the nationwide leader’s visit to the military unit in October 1999.

In the lobby of the third floor there is a photo stand documenting the care and attention of President and Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev to army building in the country. There are also classrooms for officers where trainings on tactical planning and execution of military orders are conducted.

Then the head of state reviewed the barracks of the military unit.

It was noted that the five-storey building is well suited for the recreation of soldiers. In order to boost the morale of soldiers, photographs of Azerbaijan's national heroes and historical monuments of the country are displayed on the first floor. There is are also a weaponry room, a secretariat and other offices here. The section reflecting individual talents of soldiers displays their handicrafts and a wall newspaper. Classes on improving the morale and patriotic spirit of servicemen are conducted in the ideological room.

President Ilham Aliyev reviewed military ammunition and equipment displayed on the parade ground. Further, the President was shown to the soldiers' canteen.

The first floor of the two-storey canteen building houses a tea-house and a lounge. The President examined the food used in soldiers’ daily diet. It was noted that preference is given to local high-quality foods.

The canteen on the second floor of the building is fully equipped to provide the personnel with good-quality food. There is a separate bakery, food and clothing stores, a workshop, a laundry room and a boiler house. The military unit also operates a separate hospital.

After reviewing the military unit, the President gave relevant instructions and recommendations.
