Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of a chess school in Goranboy

President Ilham Aliyev participated at the opening of chess school in the framework of his visit to the city of Goranboy. Head of state cut the ribbon signaling the symbolic opening of the school.

It was reported that the construction of the school has started in the beginning of 2011. High quality construction work was completed in the end of last year. Two storied school is equipped with all necessary devices to enable young children to master the art of chess playing in Goranboy. The modern lighting system is installed around the school. Greening lines were built also.

It was reported that the courses of the chess playing school were previously located in the building without necessary conditions. A new building of school with total area of 300 square meters was constructed at the Heydar Aliyev Avenue in the city. Featuring the modern architectural style, the schoolyard has got a large outdoor place for chess play by children.

While visiting the school, it was reported to the President of Azerbaijan that chess playing rooms are created in all floors of the building. Up to 50 chess players can come and compete at once in the meeting halls. The current educational classrooms are equipped with all necessary equipment. A special IT room is created also for e-learning and studying current innovations. The school has also a photo gallery depicting attention and care of President Ilham Aliyev and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva to the field of education. In general, 494 children will be able to attend chess classes in this school.

It was noted that the chess playing school is ready to host nationwide competitions. It is quite obvious that Goranboy chess players obtained medals, diplomas and cups in the international and republican chess tournaments held in recent years.

President Ilham Aliyev highly evaluated the conditions created at the school.
