President Ilham Aliyev has met with residents of the Girmizi Gasaba settlement in Guba.
Saluting local residents, President Ilham Aliyev said:
Things are going well, all the districts, including Guba, are developing. Now a new water supply project is starting in Guba. It will also cover this settlement. Both Guba and other districts have problems with drinking water and sanitation. I am sure that in the near future, within a year or 18 months, the water problem will be completely resolved. As for sanitation, it has never been available. So now it should be at a completely new and modern level. Guba is becoming prettier, good buildings are emerging. Things in the settlement are also going well. A beautiful, majestic Heydar Aliyev Center has been built in Guba. The streets and rural roads are now being improved.
RESIDENT: In general, as elsewhere in Azerbaijan, a lot is being done in Guba.
President Ilham Aliyev: I was informed yesterday that the diagnostic center we have opened is working in full swing. People come and receive treatment there.
RESIDENT: Everything is done with the future in mind.
President Ilham Aliyev: Of course, we have plans. We have now calculated the water supply and sanitation for Guba considering population growth until 2035. Of course, there is development. We have built the Shahdag and Khachmaz power stations. Now there are no problems with electricity in this region. What is gas supply like here in the settlement?
RESIDENT: Most likely there will be gas supply because new lines under being laid.
President Ilham Aliyev: Are they?
RESIDENT: Yes, work is under way.
President Ilham Aliyev: There must be complete gasification.
RESIDENT: This work is also ongoing is surrounding villages.
President Ilham Aliyev: Pipes in surrounding villages are also laid using a new method. This is a modern approach. The people of Guba yesterday raised the issue of restoring that old bridge.
RESIDENT: This is very important. We call it the friendship bridge because it links our settlement with Guba and has a history of 150 years.
President Ilham Aliyev: This is an ancient bridge. I am now told that it is used only by pedestrians. I ordered the transport minister yesterday to rebuild it in a nice fashion. Do you have one bridge?
RESIDENT: Will it be reconstructed as a historical site?
President Ilham Aliyev: Yes, it will both be reconstructed as a historical site and enable motor traffic. I have given the instruction. We will do that too.
