President Ilham Aliyev has received the Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce and the co-chairman of the Azerbaijani-Chinese intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, Zhong Shan.
The head of state expressed his satisfaction with the development of relations between China and Azerbaijan in all the spheres. Noting the successful development of political ties between the two countries, President Ilham Aliyev said that cooperation within international organizations was also a source of satisfaction. Touching upon economic relations, the President pointed to the availability of a good potential for the development cooperation in the spheres of energy, agriculture, tourism and infrastructure projects. President Aliyev highlighted the importance of regular meetings of the Azerbaijani-Chinese intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation from the standpoint of discussion of issues relating to bilateral relations.
Zhong Shan passed on to the President of Azerbaijan greetings from the Chairman of the People's Republic of China, Hu Jintao. The guest said he was very impressed with the extensive economic development in Azerbaijan. Noting that Azerbaijan is China’s important partner in the South Caucasus, Zhong Shan stressed that his country is interested in investing in various sectors of the Azerbaijan economy, including the non-oil sector.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his appreciation for the greetings from the Chairman of the People's Republic of China, Hu Jintao, and asked the vice minister to communicate his greetings to the Chinese leadership.
