On June 23, President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, made a telephone call to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
President of the United States of America said it was essential for the parties to take a decisive step towards a peaceful settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict during the trilateral meeting, to be held in Kazan between the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia. President Obama also noted the importance of negotiating a final settlement based on the Helsinki principles of non-use of force or threat of force, territorial integrity, and the equal rights and self-determination of peoples.
Bilateral relations and other issues were also discussed during the phone call.
