At first, the head of state got familiarized with renovation and reconstruction work carried out in the Kremlin of Astrakhan. It was reported that the Kremlin of Astrakhan is called often times as the miracle of Russia. Witnessing important events related to the history of Russia, Astrakhan’s Kremlin was built in the second half of XVI century. Still maintaining its significant place among the famous monuments of Russian military engineering architecture, Astrakhan’s Kremlin is among first ancient fortresses built in the this territory, including all others located on the banks of the Volga river. Playing a role of the center of Astrakhan authorities in the past, this stronghold unites 5 historical monuments. The Kremlin of Astrakhan is protected by the state as a rare historical monument since 1980. Currently, the monument undergoes renovation and reconstruction work by the decision of the Russian government. This reflects the attention and care paid at state level to Astrakhan’s Kremlin.
Following the tour, President Ilham Aliyev has gone sightseeing in the city of Astrakhan. Alexander Jilkin, the Governor of Astrakhan province informed the President of Azerbaijan about refurbishment and construction work carried out in the city. It has been noted that this city located on the shores of Caspian Sea is recognized as one of the main economic centers of Russia. The economic potential of province plays an important role in the development of this region. Historically, Azerbaijan had close economic relations with Astrakhan province, and this relationship continues successfully still. This process plays a vital role in the co-operation between Russia and Azerbaijan.
