Ilham Aliyev was familiarized with progress of reconstruction at the Mingachevir hydro power plant

President Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva have visited the Mingachevir water reservoir and the hydro power plant.

The head of state was informed of progress in the reconstruction at the plant. It was indicated that by increasing the capacity of each of the six machine units of the plant to 70 megawatts, the plant’s total capacity will rise from 320 to 420 megawatts. This growth will be achieved without changing the water flow. Equipment is being purchased from French company Areva, while building and assembly work is carried out by local company Azenko. As part of the project, a substation will be completely rebuilt, the control room will be relocated and become fully automated.

President Ilham Aliyev issued instructions and recommendations regarding completion of the reconstruction in a timely and quality manner.
