Ilham Aliyev took part in the groundbreaking ceremony of Gusar 1 Hydropower Plant

Builders greeted sincerely the head of state.

Briefing President Ilham Aliyev, the chairman of Azerenergy OJSC Etibar Pirverdiyev said that the head of state announced the year of 2010 as the culminating year in using alternative power sources and improving the environment within the country. According to the Order of President Ilham Aliyev dated 16 November 2009, Azerenergy OJSC was tasked to elaborate special programs in order to use widely small hydropower plants in the republic.

On the one hand, the construction of small hydropower plants allows saving fuel in production of electric energy, and on the other hand, it helps to make safer the environment.

Head of state was informed in detail about main components of the project. It comprises specially designed water storage facility, 3 pipelines with each length of 577 meters and diameter of 900 millimeters, turbine room, 3 hydroturbines and hydrotreaters with total capacity of 1Megawatt as well as substation of 10kW and power supply lines.

The construction will be completed in second half of 2011. The construction work is carried out by local Azenco company.

As a result of the project implementation, 7 million kWh of electric energy will be produced in this hydropower plant being constructed near Urva village of Gusar region.

President Ilham Aliyev put the capsule to the foundation and poured the concrete.

Head of state congratulated builders and power engineering specialists, gave them instructions and recommendations.
