President Ilham Aliyev took part at the opening of the 42nd km part of highway from Kurdamir to Ujar.

Head of state studied the highway reconstruction project and watched the photos dedicated to the previous and current status of highway.

Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov reported that the project of Reconstruction of Kurdamir-Ujar Highway was funded in the framework of the agreement signed between the Government of Azerbaijan and the World Bank.

The project of this highway and tender documents were prepared by Finland’s Finnroad Ltd and RRI firm. The winner of tender became Italy’s Todini Costruzioni Generali S.p.A. which signed the contractor agreement on October 15, 2008. The technical supervision is ensured by UK’s Scott Wilson Company.

The length of auxiliary technical highway is 42 km. Its width is 15 meters. 88 circular and 16 rectangle tubes were installed right of way to redirect rain water flows. It disposes also 2 pedestrian crossings and 3 bridges.

Studying closely the work done in this site President Ilham Aliyev met with builders.

Afterwards, head of state cut the ribbon signaling the opening.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed his appreciation on reconstruction work and gave recommendations and instructions.
