Dear Mr. President,

On behalf of the European Commission, and on my own behalf, I would like to congratulate You on the occasion of Your re-election as President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. I should also like to voice my hope and expectation that your new term in office will be a period of continued success for you and the people of your country.

I can reassure You that the European Commission attaches great importance to further deepening the European Union’s relations with Azerbaijan, on political, economic and energy fields, based on respect for internationally shared principles and values, including democracy and rule of Law.

Let me conclude by wishing you every success in the exercise of your mandate, and I look forward to continue developing our contacts further both at a personal level as well as on a bilateral, multilateral and in the framework of the Eastern Partnership.
