The two-level underground parking lot in Oil Workers Avenue in front of the Government House in Baku has been commissioned.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has reviewed the parking lot.
In accordance with the instructions of the head of state, consistent measures are taken to improve and modernize the infrastructure of Baku. The road infrastructure of the capital is being completely revamped, modern bridges and overpasses, underground and above-ground pedestrian crossings constructed, new parks and alleys established and targeted measures taken to facilitate traffic conditions in the city.
The reconstruction and modernization of the National Seaside Park have enhanced the interest of Baku residents and visitors to this part of Baku. The growing number of people coming here by car to see the exciting activities taking place here and relax led to traffic jams in the streets leading to the boulevard and posed a threat to pedestrians. To eliminate these problems, the President issued the instruction to build a two-level underground parking lot in Oil Workers Avenue in front of the Government House. The construction of the underground parking lot, with each level covering an area of 30,000 square meters and capable of accommodating 2,000 vehicles, commenced in 2012. Over this period the President regularly enquired about the progress of construction and issued instructions on completing the work in accordance with the highest standards. Construction work has been completed in a short time and in accordance with the latest standards.
President Ilham Aliyev examined the new underground car park.
Baku Mayor Hajibala Abutalibov informed the President about the work done. It was noted that the underground car park is fitted with the latest equipment and systems. It has ventilation, fire fighting and safety systems meeting the modern standards. For security reasons, surveillance cameras and monitors are installed on both levels. The parking lot has two entrances and two exits. There are also six pedestrian crossings. The crossings are equipped with modern escalators functioning in any climatic conditions. All systems of the parking lot are automatic. At the entrances and exits of the parking lot there are water tanks, a drainage system meeting modern requirements and additional water pumps in case of excessive rainfall. There are special rooms for employees as well.
The head of state expressed his satisfaction with the work done in the underground car park.
