President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by the head of the CIS observation mission, the chairman of the Executive Committee and the CIS Executive Secretary, Sergey Lebedev.
Sergey Lebedev warmly congratulated the head of state on a landslide victory in the presidential election on behalf of the mission he is leading. Noting that on voting day the mission enquired about the electoral process from local observers and voters, Sergey Lebedev said that CIS observers had witnessed the unequivocal view that people would vote for stability and development. Touching upon the results of the election, he said they demonstrate that the Azerbaijani people rely on their leader and believe in the prospects of the current work. Sergey Lebedev expressed his hope that the course pursued by President Ilham Aliyev would serve to further strengthen the authority of Azerbaijan in the international arena, including the CIS, as well as the expansion of good-neighborly, economic and cultural ties with the countries of the Commonwealth.
The President expressed his gratitude to the head of the CIS observation mission, the chairman of the Executive Committee and the CIS Executive Secretary, Sergey Lebedev, and other members of the mission for their participation in the elections as observers. President Aliyev said that the necessary work had been done to create the conditions for a transparent election and conduct the electoral process in a democratic environment. The President stressed that the Azerbaijani people voted for the policies ongoing in the country, and expressed his confidence that these policies, based on the successful results of the country's development, would be continued.
