The president of the State Oil Company, Rovnag Abdullayev, informed the President of Azerbaijan that the "Kimyachi" Culture Center was commissioned in 1986. Since that time, various activities of national and city importance have been held in the square outside the Center. It is the most spacious square in the center of Sumgayit. An area of 5 hectares has been extensively landscaped, while communications and lighting system have been fully upgraded. A modern fountain imparts special beauty to the square. The square is well suited for the recreation of Sumgayit residents.
Then, President Ilham Aliyev examined the stand of the "Kimyachi" Culture Center. It was noted that it would now be called the Sumgayit culture center. Located on the first floor of the three-storey building is a large concert hall with 800 seats, while the second floor houses conference and meeting rooms. The Culture Center will have all the conditions for the demonstration of theatrical performances, concerts, films and other activities using the latest technologies. It will also operate a restaurant, an exhibition hall and various clubs. There are plans to set up a parking lot for 260 cars here.
The President gave further instructions and recommendations related to the reconstruction of the center.
