President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of an underground car park built between Fizuli and Mirzaaga Aliyev Streets of the capital.
The underground car parks built in Baku in recent times play an important part in preventing traffic congestion and ensuring smooth and safe movement of vehicles in the capital. Built along with parking lots are underground pedestrian crossings, which is the result of measures being taken to further modernize the road infrastructure.
Baku Mayor Hajibala Abutalibov informed the President about the parameters of the underground car park.
It was noted that the underground car park for 4,500 vehicles also has a special section for 37 cars. It will operate car washes. The total area of the three-level parking lot is 21 hectares. Two levels are intended for parking, while the third is a technical floor. Along with other installations, the technical floor has eight water tanks with a capacity of 1,200 cubic meters. The underground car park is fitted with modern equipment and systems. It has the most sophisticated ventilation, fire protection and security systems. To ensure security and control, the parking lot operates about 270 surveillance cameras. In addition, exits are separated with glazed partitions capable of withstanding temperatures of up to 700 degrees. There are five entrances and exits here. Since Shamsi Badalbayli Street passes over the underground car park, this part has been built by the principle of a bridge.
President Ilham Aliyev took a walk in the park and fountain complex above the underground car park.
It was indicated that the underground car park has 14 elevators. Seven underpasses with a total of 24 escalators have been built around the park. There are eight elevators for people with disabilities. Thus, the complex covering an area of 7 hectares has now become one of the favorite places of recreation for the residents and visitors of Baku.
