President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received the President of the Russian oil company “Rosneft”, Igor Sechin.

The President of Azerbaijan expressed his hope that the visit of the President of "Rosneft", Igor Sechin, to Azerbaijan would open up extensive opportunities for the discussion of issues relating to the further expansion of the oil and gas cooperation between the two countries.

Noting the good prospects for the development of cooperation in this field, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the importance of identifying new opportunities for expanding this collaboration.

The president of "Rosneft" conveyed greetings on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the President of Azerbaijan. Stressing that SOCAR (the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) is one of the largest companies in the region, Igor Sechin noted the successful international cooperation with SOCAR, adding that this cooperation had even greater prospects.

The President expressed his gratitude for the greetings of President Vladimir Putin and asked for his greetings to be communicated to the President of Russia as well.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said he had recently discussed the prospects of bilateral relations between the two countries in a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Saying that the two countries had a good experience of cooperation in the oil and gas sector, the President noted the importance of stepping up efforts to expand these ties.
