Ilham Aliyev received heads of CIS delegations, intelligence services and security bodies

President Ilham Aliyev has received heads of delegations attending the 11th meeting of heads of CIS intelligence and security bodies underway in Baku.
President Ilham Aliyev pointed to a high level of organization of the 11th Baku meeting of heads of CIS intelligence and security bodies, stressing that a productive exchange of opinions had been held at this authoritative event. Stating that joint activities of secret services of the Commonwealth of Independent States were playing an important part in security, calm and stability, the head of state said:
- Azerbaijan is set to take an active part in the CIS. We are already involved quite closely in different formats – in humanitarian and economic cooperation and, of course, in ensuring security and stability. I am aware that our security bodies and those of the CIS interact on both bilateral and multilateral basis. I am very pleased that our colleagues representing friendly CIS states are interested in cooperation. We do hope that this cooperation will be continued.
Expressing his confidence that the 11th meeting of heads of CIS intelligence and security bodies in Baku would give a powerful impetus to the fight against international terrorism, extremism, radicalism and other challenges of the modern world, the head of state added:
- I am sure that complete security of our countries is possible through close cooperation with neighbors, partners and friendly states. Technological opportunities not only of state security bodies are enhancing throughout the world today. Unfortunately, cutting-edge technologies are also being acquired by those attempting on the lives of our citizens, those who want to sow panic and chaos. You will certainly know this better. I am sure that the exchange of operational information and close cooperation can help us get rid of many problems.
President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that productive cooperation and joint efforts by CIS countries were playing an important part in creating security guarantees in the region and the world. The head of state indicated that no country in the world, not even the most powerful states, are guaranteed against global threats such as international terrorism. Further efforts by CIS countries are highly important. President Ilham Aliyev wished the participants of the 11th meeting of heads of CIS intelligence and security bodies in Baku further success in the name of common goals.
The chairman of the meeting of heads of CIS intelligence and security bodies, the director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Fradkov, thanked President Ilham Aliyev on behalf of all delegations attending the meeting. He said intelligence services of CIS countries were stepping up their relations, conducting regular exchanges of opinion and experience. Fradkov said:
- Such meetings generate confidence that we are on the right course and are doing our best to improve interaction. This is significantly facilitated by the good relations between heads of states and your personal interest. We will certainly take your wishes and recommendations into consideration in our work, including the meeting today.
Mikhail Fradkov said the decision to conduct the 11th meeting of heads of CIS intelligence and security bodies in Baku was approved at the 10th anniversary meeting. Pointing to a good reputation of the Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan, which is closely involved in meeting joint objectives of CIS intelligence services, he said:
- From the very first minutes in Baku we have felt great attention and kind attitude, which is further groundwork for our successful activity. We are aware of your personal attitude to issues of security and stability. This is not our first meeting. Indeed, we can feel consistency in the words and deeds, especially in issues involving human life, fight against terrorism and religious extremism. I see this as a relevant and priority direction for joining our efforts.
M. Fradkov added that the 11th meeting of heads of CIS intelligence and security bodies was extensively studying reserve opportunities for preventing threats to international security. A useful exchange of opinion is underway at the meeting. He stressed that meeting participants were profoundly impressed by their observations of Baku and see them as a graphic example of Azerbaijan’s overall development. “We will continue to make every effort to resolve the tasks facing CIS intelligence bodies,” Fradkov said.
