Ilham Aliyev received credentials of incoming ambassador of Algeria to Azerbaijan

On September 17, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of Zakia Ighil, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.
The ambassador presented her credentials to the head of state.
President Ilham Aliyev had a conversation with the ambassador.
The head of state praised the bilateral relations between the two countries at various levels, emphasizing the importance of developing cooperation in the political, economic, and energy sectors.
Describing Azerbaijan as a beautiful country, the ambassador expressed her delight at visiting. She conveyed the greetings of Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, to President Ilham Aliyev, noting that the Algerian President highly values his friendship with the Azerbaijani leader. Zakia Ighil mentioned that the Azerbaijani President’s visit to Algeria in 2022 marked a new chapter in the history of bilateral relations and underlined that President Tebboune is grateful for the congratulatory letter following his election victory. She expressed her commitment to further expanding Azerbaijan-Algeria ties during her tenure.
The head of state expressed gratitude for the greetings and asked the ambassador to convey his own regards to President Tebboune, while also renewing his congratulations on Tebboune’s election. Fondly recalling his visit to Algeria, the head of state emphasized that it once again demonstrated the close cooperation between the two countries.
President Ilham Aliyev stressed the need to continue cooperation between Azerbaijan and Algeria within international organizations, including the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement, and noted Azerbaijan’s commitment to efficiency within these bodies.
President Aliyev expressed gratitude for Algeria’s support during Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement and emphasized the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries, multilateralism, and the fight against neocolonialism.
The ambassador congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on Azerbaijan's successful chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement.
The head of state also mentioned his visit to the National Museum of Moudjahid in Algeria, saying that the crimes and atrocities depicted there left a profound impression on him. He reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s support for the freedom and sovereignty of peoples still suffering under colonial rule and reiterated this support beyond Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement.
Turning to energy cooperation, President Aliyev noted that both countries are major natural gas exporters to Europe and expressed satisfaction with their close cooperation within the OPEC+ framework.
The ambassador also conveyed congratulations on Azerbaijan hosting COP29, expressing confidence that it would be a highly successful event.
