President Ilham Aliyev has received Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union Hamadoun Toure.
Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union Hamadoun Toure said he had been visiting Azerbaijan every year since 2003 and witnessing extensive development in the country on every visit.
Recalling the participation of President Ilham Aliyev at the Geneva Summit of the International Telecommunication Union and words of the President “I will convert the ‘black gold’ into human capital”, the guest said that the slogan had already become a reality. Hamadoun Toure said the Seventh Forum on Internet Governance was organized at a high level. He stressed the importance of a further development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the organization he is leading.
President Ilham Aliyev said that great progress had been made in Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector, including the sphere of information and communication technology, over the past nine years. Noting the importance of the Seventh Forum on Internet Governance being held in Baku, the President described it as the International Telecommunication Union’s assessment of the work carried out in Azerbaijan in this field.
