President Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of a 29-km Yevlakh-Barda section of the Yevlakh-Khojaly-Lachin highway.
The head of state reviewed the stands describing the technical parameters of the road, its previous and current condition and information about the roads to be rebuilt in 2013.
Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov said that the importance of the 29-km Yevlakh-Barda section of the Yevlakh-Lachin highway is that it is of regional significance. This road facilitates traffic in the direction of Tartar, Agjabadi, Barda and Agdam, and ensures timely and safe arrival of those living in these districts at the destination.
It was noted that the road was built on the order of “Azeryolservis”. The length of its first technical category section is 6.4 kilometers and width 15-20 meters. The length of the second technical category section is 22.6 kilometers and width 9 meters. In accordance with technical categories, the number of lanes changes from four to two. Two bridges have been rebuilt on the asphalt concrete road. A total of 160,000 tons of asphalt concrete has been used.
It was indicated that the construction of the Barda-Tartar section of the Barda-Istisu highway was currently ongoing. The length of the road where 80 tons of asphalt concrete will be used is 18 km. The construction on this second technical category road is scheduled for completion in November this year.
The head of state cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the road.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the road.
