President Ilham Aliyev has received ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions of Muslim states to Azerbaijan on the occasion of the holy month of RamadanÂ
After congratulating the meeting participants on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, the Azerbaijani president asked the diplomats to communicate his sincere greetings and congratulations to the heads of state and government of their respective countries. Stressing that the month of Ramadan was a symbol of unity for all Muslims living in the world, President Ilham Aliyev pointed to the importance of further strengthening the friendly and fraternal relations among Muslim countries and Islamic solidarity. Emphasizing the importance of the increasing number of embassies of Muslim countries in Azerbaijan, the head of state noted that the number of Azerbaijani embassies in Muslim states was also rising.
Speaking about successful bilateral and international cooperation between Azerbaijan and Muslim states, President Ilham Aliyev said a number of high-level international activities had been held in Baku through the Organization of Islamic Conference. The head of state noted that in 2009 Baku was declared the Islamic Cultural Capital, adding that Azerbaijan was making its contribution to Islamic solidarity.
Touching upon the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, President Ilham Aliyev said Muslim countries were demonstrating a fair position in the issue. After expressing his confidence that the conflict would be resolved on the basis of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and norms of international law, the President urged the international community again to increase pressure on aggressive Armenia.
President Ilham Aliyev wished all the countries represented by diplomats peace and prosperity on the occasion of the forthcoming Ramadan holiday and reaffirmed his best wishes to the meeting participants.
On behalf of Ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions of Muslim states in Azerbaijan, Uzbek Ambassador Ismatilla Yergashev congratulated President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan and wished them peace and welfare. He pointed to the importance of the fact that the meetings of the head of state on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan have become traditional. Highlighting the invaluable contribution of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev to the successes Azerbaijan has achieved in all spheres of life, the diplomat said that thanks to a thought-out and balanced policies pursued by President Ilham Aliyev today, the positions of our countries in the world are steadily strengthening. Ismatilla Yergashev said Azerbaijan was a country securing stability and dynamic development in the South Caucasus. The Ambassador stressed that the position of Muslim states with regard to the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh remains unchanged.
The Ambassador noted that Azerbaijan distinguishes as an active member of the Organization of Islamic Conference and a graphic example of religious tolerance and dialogue between civilizations. In conclusion, the Ambassador expressed his best wishes to the people of Azerbaijan and the head of state.
