Ilham Aliyev met with Executive Chairman of “Fortescue Future Industries” in Davos

Ilham Aliyev, the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with Andrew Forrest, the CEO of "Fortescue Future Industries," in Davos.
The parties highlighted that a project to produce 12,000 megawatts of wind and solar energy in Azerbaijan was to be implemented under the terms of a memorandum inked last month between the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy and "Fortescue Future Industries." The significance of the "Agreement on a Strategic Partnership in the Field of Green Energy Development and Transmission between the Governments of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary" being signed in Bucharest was also emphasized. The parties agreed that it was essential to supply future green energy produced in Azerbaijan to the European market through this project.
In their discussion, they stressed the significance of collaboration in putting a hydrogen production project, including green hydrogen in Azerbaijan, into action.
It was mentioned that Azerbaijan would be able to create up to 22,000 megawatts of wind and solar energy thanks to the agreements and memoranda of understanding the country struck with foreign energy firms. It was emphasized that SOCAR and "Fortescue Future Industries" plan to produce 12,000 megawatts of that energy.
The conversation focused on the excellent investment climate in Azerbaijan.
They discussed the possibility of cooperation while considering Azerbaijan's wealth of renewable energy potential.
