President Ilham Aliyev has received the President of TeliaSonera, Lars Nyberg.

The President of TeliaSonera, Lars Nyberg, gave a high assessment to the dynamic development of the sphere of information and communication technologies in Azerbaijan. He thanked the President of Azerbaijan for the conditions created for Azercell to apply 3G and 4G technologies.

Stressing that the sector of information and communication technologies is a priority area in Azerbaijan, President Aliyev said that work is under way aimed at the expansion of the Internet using the most sophisticated means throughout the country.

The sides noted the importance of the support TeliaSonera has been providing for the Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway Project (TASIM), which is carried out on a special resolution adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on Azerbaijan’s initiative. The parties stressed the importance of the Internet-based forum held by the Government of Azerbaijan jointly with the UN.
