President Ilham Aliyev has received US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Expressing his satisfaction with another visit of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Azerbaijan, the President described it as an indicator of friendly and partnership relations between the two countries. Touching upon the issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States in the fields of economy, energy, regional security, political reform, conflict settlement, etc., President Aliyev said that bilateral relations were developing successfully.
Mrs. Clinton said she was glad to come back to Baku and consult with President Aliyev on bilateral relations. Hillary Clinton noted the importance of President Ilham Aliyev’s participation at the Chicago NATO summit. Stressing the importance of the successful cooperation between the two countries in many areas, the US Secretary of State pointed with satisfaction to her country's close and strategic partnership with Azerbaijan. She emphasized the important role of Azerbaijan in the region.
Mrs. Clinton said the issues of bilateral relations being discussed have a broad agenda.
The sides also exchanged views on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, the expansion of bilateral cooperation in energy and other fields.
Then, a lunch was hosted in honor of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev.
