As part of a visit to Astara District, President Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of the Kijaba-Ojakaran and Kijaba-Gajimarda road.
The head of state cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the road.
It was mentioned that according to an Order of the President of Azerbaijan, a 10-kilometer section of the Kijaba-Ojakaran and Kijaba-Gajimarda road has been renovated. This road is used by 12,000 people living in Kijaba and nine other settlements and about 7,000 residents of 13 villages of the Palikash administrative area located 25 kilometers from the district center. At the entrance to the settlement there is a Flag Square with the national flag hoisted on a flagpole 25 meters high. There is also a park here. The road leading to the settlement has been extended and landscaped.
It was indicated that on the instruction of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev, who had repeatedly visited the settlement, the Lovayin reservoir was built and put into operation here in the late 1960s. It is exceptionally important for the irrigation of agricultural holdings. The funds allocated on the Order of President Ilham Aliyev have been channeled into renovation of the water reservoir. The capacity of the reservoir is 6.3 million cubic meters, while its depth is 17 meters. A four-block pump station supplies water to 1,250 hectares of farmland.
