President Ilham Aliyev has attended the opening of the Astara district central hospital after major repairs and reconstruction.
The President reviewed the stands reflecting the appearance of the hospital before and after the repairs.
It was indicated that the three-storey hospital built in 1983 has become dilapidated over time. The hospital for 90 beds has been renovated, reconstructed and fitted with the latest medical equipment. The renovation has been financed from the state budget.
It was noted that the reception, the department of obstetrics and gynecology, the surgery unit, the intensive care unit for newborn children, the ultrasound investigation department, 10 wards, a kitchen, a canteen and ancillary rooms are located on the first floor. On the second floor there are surgical, intensive care, operating departments, two operating theaters, two intensive care wards, 11 wards, a kitchen, a canteen and ancillary rooms, while the therapeutic department, 13 wards, a kitchen, a canteen and ancillary rooms are on the third. The area around the hospital has been landscaped, a 1.5-hectare modern park established and green areas expanded. The park also has areas for summer recreation.
The President met with the hospital staff.
Speaking on behalf of the staff, Doctor Aliya Hasanova thanked President Ilham Aliyev for the attention being paid to the development of healthcare in the country.
