In the framework of his visit to Ganja, President Ilham Aliyev participated at the opening of the monument of Nizami Ganjavi in the Khamsa Monumental Compound in Ganja.
Head of state has unveiled the monument of the great poet and laid the wreath of flowers.
It was reported that the reference was made to the ancient Azerbaijani architecture while constructing the compound dedicated to the motifs of Nizami Ganjavi’s writings. The Khamsa Monumental Compound was erected using 8 angle, zodiac, candle, basin and other architectural elements. In this Compound, the following writings of Nizami Ganjavi – Leyli and Majnun, Treasury of Mysteries, Seven Beauties, Khosrov and Shirin and Iskendername poems – got monuments per each. This has resulted by the formation of a monumental compound which is the rarest one by its nature in reflecting Nizami’s creative activities.
Commitment to the past and preservation of cultural values forged by our forefathers are one of the fundamental principles of the policy pursued by President Ilham Aliyev. Being one of important steps made to preserve the legacy of Nizami Ganjavi, the Khamsa Monumental Compound proves once again the importance attached by the head of state to the creative activities of Nizami Ganjavi.
