The construction and repair of roads, crossings and bridges are one of the main priorities of the creative work carried out in Ganja. The reconstruction of five bridges over the Ganjachay River was recently completed at the same time.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and first lady Mehriban Aliyeva viewed the work done.
It was pointed out that one of the five bridges, located at the intersection of Museyib Baghirov Street with the Ganjachay River, was built in 1986, and the other four in the 1950s. Due to the fact that the bridges were completely rundown, they posed a threat to traffic. On 16 May 2019, the head of state signed an Order to allocate funds in the amount of 6.4 million manats from the President’s Contingency Fund to the Highway State Agency to restore the five damaged bridges in Ganja located at the intersection of the Ganjachay River with the avenues of Shah Ismail Khatai and Nizami Ganjavi, as well as Museyib Baghirov, Mirza Abbas Abbaszade and Alovsat Mammadov streets. Due to these funds, repair and restoration work was completed in a timely manner. Work was carried out to strengthen the carriageway of all the bridges, railings, lower and upper parts of the river, right and left slopes of the river. Deflectors were installed on both sides of the carriageway and sidewalks were repaired. Thus, safe traffic on these bridges for both pedestrians and cars was ensured.
The head of state was also informed about the roads the construction of which has been completed. It was noted that the reconstruction of the 5-km stretch of the Ganja-Kalbajar-Lachin highway, which would play a major part in developing tourism in this region, would improve entry and exit to and from Ganja. As part of projects on the reconstruction of rural and inter-settlement roads in Samukh district, a 12.7-km Yenikand-Kobar-Garaaghajli road has been reconstructed. This road, covering three settlements, has facilitated the movement of thousands of people. In parallel, drainage pipes under the road have been restored and new ones have been installed where necessary. As part of the project, a new bridge has been built on the 11th kilometer of the road, in an area called Ganli Gobu.
