On his way back from Agsu District, President Ilham Aliyev reviewed the Sharadil recreation center in Shamakhi.
It was indicated that the government has been taking consistent steps to develop the country’s tourism infrastructure. From this standpoint, the adoption of the “State program on the development of tourism in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2007-2016” and the announcement of 2011 as the Year of Tourism have opened up broad opportunities for turning Azerbaijan into an internationally popular travel destination.
It was mentioned that the center covers a total area of 25 hectares. Construction has been carried out on an area of more than four hectares. There is a 120-seat bar restaurant on the first floor of the main building and a 150-seat one on the second. There are VIP rooms and a lounge at the center. Out of 20 cottages 11 are three-room and others are two-room. There is also a hotel with eight rooms: four double and four single. The center also has a golf course, volleyball and tennis courts and an entertainment area for children.
President Ilham Aliyev examined the plan on the construction of the Shamakhi-Grand hotel. The construction commenced in 2010 and is scheduled for commissioning next year. The hotel will have a total of 114 rooms, including 96 standard and 19 suites. It will have three conference rooms each with a seating capacity of 500 people. The construction of various sports facilities is also envisaged.
The President gave a high assessment to the work done at the recreation center and gave relevant instructions regarding the construction of the Shamakhi-Grand hotel.
