Ilham Aliyev received Russian Minister of economic development

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, co-chair of the Azerbaijan-Russia intergovernmental commission Maxim Oreshkin.
The head of state recalled his recent meeting with Maxim Oreshkin held in Davos, and expressed confidence that his visit to Azerbaijan will contribute to the expansion of bilateral relations between the two countries.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that fruitful discussions on trade, transportation, creation of joint ventures and further expansion of economic cooperation in other areas will be held during the trip.
Hailing the successful development of bilateral relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation in all fields, the head of state pointed to the specific steps taken to implement agreements reached between the two countries’ presidents, and the documents signed during his official visit to Russia last September. The President described this as a sign of a high level of cooperation between the two countries.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that a bridge over Samur River will be commissioned this year, adding that this will create good opportunities for arrival and departure of both countries citizens’ and contribute to the expansion of bilateral collaboration.
The head of state noted the importance of the groundbreaking of GAZ Automobile Plant in Hajigabul today. President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that fruitful discussions on prospects of economic cooperation as part of the road map will be held during the visit of the delegation led by Maxim Oreshkin.
Hailing his visit to Azerbaijan, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, co-chair of the Azerbaijan-Russia intergovernmental commission Maxim Oreshkin said that each time they visit Azerbaijan they familiarize themselves with a number of regions and cities as well as numerous beautiful and colorful places of the country. Maxim Oreshkin praised the active cooperation with Azerbaijan in accordance with the road map approved during the Azerbaijani President’s official visit to Russia last year, and underlined that there are positive dynamics for implementing trade, investment, and joint projects.
The Russian minister noted that they visited the Azerbaijan-Russia border, and viewed the construction progress of the bridge over Samur River. He hailed the successful development of transport cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia. Minister Oreshkin said that the ongoing work on the improvement of three checkpoints along the border is the manifestation of a complex approach to the development of Azerbaijan-Russia mutual transport links.
The sides exchanged views on cooperation prospects in infrastructure, investment, transport and other areas, and praised the fruitful activity of the joint intergovernmental commission.
