Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov informed the President that important projects aiming to upgrade the country’s transport system and organize passenger transportation in line with international standards have been implemented in Azerbaijan in recent years. As part of this campaign, the construction of bus stations meeting modern requirements has started not only in Baku but also in the districts. One of these is the Guba bus station.
It was indicated that the bus station has been built in a modern architectural style and covers an area of 522 square meters. In order to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply to the bus station building, a transformer station, a water reservoir and a pump station have been set up. Green areas have been established and decorative trees planted around the premises. The building also has necessary conditions for people’s rest and is equipped with a modern ventilation system.
President Ilham Aliyev was informed that the main and ancillary buildings have been built on the station premises. The first floor has the main entrance, the mother and child area, two exits to the platform, a ticket office, a café and a 133-square-meter waiting room. The second floor has a 68.8-square-meter assembly room, a lounge and offices. The façade of the two-storey station building was built of light metal structures, glass and cladding material. Inner walls and partition walls are made of block stones and bricks.
The President was informed that the bus station is fitted with the necessary equipment to arrange for bus services to Baku and back and to facilitate bus and passenger traffic to and from Russia. The announcement of 2011 as the Year of Tourism and the fact that Guba District is an attractive travel destination have contributed to a tourist flow to the district. The construction of the new bus station will contribute further to the comfort of incoming tourists.
President Ilham Aliyev also reviewed the buses available at the station.
