Ilham Aliyev examined progress of the major overhaul and reconstruction of Baku schools No 189 and 150

President Ilham Aliyev has examined progress of the major overhaul and reconstruction of secondary schools No 189 in the Sabayil district and No 150 in the Yasamal district of Baku.
The major overhaul and reconstruction of secondary schools of the capital is carried out in accordance with the plan of activities envisaged for this year under the State program on the socioeconomic development of Baku and suburban settlements for 2011-2013. According to the program, renovation has been started at 111 educational institutions in Baku.
Along with the major overhaul and reconstruction, the state program also envisages the construction of additional classrooms, new academic buildings, sports and assembly halls, canteens for existing schools, and their provision with necessary equipment.
First, President Ilham Aliyev examined reconstruction progress at secondary school No 189 named after Eldar Mammadov in the Sabayil district.
The President was informed that the four-storey building of school No 189 for 1,200 pupils was built in 1934. In 1941-1945, the school housed evacuation hospital No. 15/46. Classes at the school are held in two shifts. Renovation at school No 189 has been started in accordance with the action plan on the major overhaul and reconstruction of school buildings envisaged under the State program on the socioeconomic development of Baku and suburban settlements. All classrooms are being renovated to a high standard, doors and windows replaced, floors and ceilings reconstructed at a modern level. The overhaul is scheduled for completion by the start of the new school year.
Then, President Ilham Aliyev visited secondary school No 150 named after Faig Rzayev in the Yasamal district of Baku. The head of state was briefed on the work under way there. It was indicated that secondary school No 150 consists of two two-storey buildings. One was built in 1897, while the other in 1937. A total of 650 children go to this school. Since eight classrooms in one of the buildings have become completely unusable, classes at the school were held in two shifts. It was noted that restoration and reconstruction were carried out in accordance with the highest standards. After the said eight classrooms are put into operation, classes will be held in one shift again. Since the passage connecting two school buildings was no longer usable, it has been knocked down and is being rebuilt.
After examining progress of the major overhaul and reconstruction, President Ilham Aliyev gave relevant instructions.
